We provided you with detailed information in April that the registration obligation for producers of professional packaging in France is expected to be postponed until July 2026. Until now, only registration as a producer of household packaging has been mandatory in France. It was confirmed that registration as a producer of professional packaging will be possible from July 2026. We are pleased to inform you that several producer responsibility organisations in France have already been approved for this area of responsibility.
ATTENTION: As of 06.07.2026, we have been informed by the French packaging producer responsibility organisations (PROs) that the French government has postponed the launch of the professional packaging waste stream by several months. At this stage, no official implementation date has been communicated.
Despite this postponement, pre-registrations remain open, allowing companies to anticipate and prepare for compliance with this upcoming waste stream.
Who is concerned?
According to the information currently available to us, companies not based in France are only concerned if they sell packaged products directly to professional end-users in France.
Companies based in France may also be concerned in other cases, including when selling to distributors or importing packaged goods from other countries.
We would be happy to advise you in specific cases as to whether you are subject to this obligation.
I am concerned. What are the next steps?
We would be happy to handle the registration for professional packaging on your behalf as soon as it is possible. This will ensure that your sales in France remain legally compliant in the future.
