Sweden: Reporting of Composite Packaging

For the first reporting to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency next year on packaging placed on the market in 2021, there are new requirements for reporting composite packaging and packaging consisting of more than one material.

For the first reporting to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency next year on packaging placed on the market in 2021, there are new requirements for reporting composite packaging and packaging consisting of more than one material.

Previously, it was permitted to report the weight of the entire composite packaging based on the weight of the heaviest material in the packaging.

This packaging must now be calculated and reported per material contained in the packaging. Exemptions apply to packaging in which the weight of a given material accounts for less than 5 percent of the total weight of the packaging.

Please note that this change also affects packaging that you have already placed on the market this year. If this results in a correction of your January or February declaration, please contact us.
