The Future of Product Responsibility

As in the past year, we want to create a platform, on which you can inform yourself about planned legislative changes regarding the topic “product responsibility”.

Invitation to the second panel event of VERE e.V. / take-e-way on 21-09-2012 at the facility of the Patriotic Society of 1765 in Hamburg

Dear take-e-way Customers, dear Members of the VERE Association,

Here we go again! Our association is accepted as dialogue partner by the institutions, which are important for us such as for instance the foundation Elektro-Altgeräte Registier (EAR), the foundation Gemeinsames Rücknahmesystem Batterien (GRS), the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) as well as of the European Parliament. Thus, we are able to point out some problems, which small and medium-sized companies have when dealing with bureaucracy at such important bodies.

Our Mr. Friedrichs was able to report such problems in May in front of the “High Level Group” under the leadership of Dr. Edmund Stoiber in Brussels. This group has set the target on behalf of the EU Commission to reduce the administrative burdens for European companies.

Of course, it will not be possible for us to realize everything in your favour with these institutions, since other groups have other interests and other influences. But in a few cases our arguments already fell on fertile ground.

We are in particular glad about the improving relationship with the foundation EAR. With the new chairman Mr. Alexander Goldberg, a working atmosphere based on confidence and respect was created which completely includes the interests of the SMEs.

As in the past year, we want to create a platform, on which you can inform yourself about planned legislative changes regarding the topic “product responsibility”. Furthermore it will offer you the possibility to discuss the specific problems in implementing the laws and elaborate suggestions for improvement.

We think that this is important because new legislations will come into force or are planned this year. The Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety is working on the implementation of some European guidelines in particular in the field of RoHS/WEEE. Mrs Heike Schroeder of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and Mrs Jana Dörschel of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology will report on this topic.

Furthermore, Mrs Julia Philipp of the EU Parliament, Mr. Alexander Goldberg of the foundation EAR, Mr. Georgios Chryssos of the foundation GRS Batteries and Mr. Herbert Köpnick of the State Ministry for Environment and Health (StMUG) in Bavaria are at our disposal as speakers.

The event will take place from 10:00 am to about 4:00 pm (CET) at the facility of the Patriotische Gesellschaft von 1765 (Patriotic Society) Trostbrücke 6, 20457 Hamburg/Germany. We will submit you the exact program sequence within the next weeks. If you are interested in participating, please subscribe immediately. Because of our experience with the past events in Berlin, we can assume that 130 places which are available will soon be booked out. If you like to take part, please contact Christoph Brellinger via phone number +49 (0) 40 / 21 90 10 - 74 or via email brellinger(at)take-e-way.de. We will be very happy, if you would take this opportunity to directly discuss the problems with the “makers” of the laws.

With kind regards,

Your Team of take-e-way and VERE e.V.
