Avoid product blocking on Amazon

The blocking of individual ASINs, warnings under competition law, fines and account blocking can be the result if there is no ElektroG registration or WEEE numbers are incorrectly assigned.

As reported by ratgeberrecht.eu, Amazon strictly implements the registration obligations from the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG = German WEEE conversion) and has automatically blocked products since 1 July 2023 if no valid WEEE registration number has been stored for the respective ASIN. Missing or incorrectly assigned WEEE numbers can lead to supply sanctions or long-term account blocking. In this context, the most common errors are that incorrect WEEE numbers are entered, a device category that does not match the product is used or there is no ElektroG registration because it is assumed that the producer has done this. This can result in the blocking of individual ASINs, warnings under competition law, fines (see also: Fines under the ElektroG may exceed 100,000 euros) and account blocking.
