As per 18 August 2025, Denmark has transposed the EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 into national law, through Regulation BEK No. 986 of 20 June 2025. One significant change is the extension of the registration obligation.
What does this mean in practice?
Since 18 August 2025
- companies that are not based in Denmark and sell batteries to end users in Denmark must also register with the DPA.
- This applies regardless of whether your company is based in the EU or outside the EU. In such cases, it is mandatory to appoint an authorised representative in Denmark.
- Previously, registration was only possible for companies based in Denmark. All Danish battery producers who are already registered must reapply for registration with the DPA via a new online portal.
Please note that details regarding registration applications and the process for reporting quantities are still being clarified.
