On 27 May 2021, the new Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG = German WEEE conversion) was promulgated in the Federal Law Gazette. The Act is scheduled to take effect on 1 January 2022; take-e-way and the association VERE e.V. had reported the key innovations in recent weeks:
- Obligation to take back on delivery
- “Free riders” to be deprived of market access
- Discounters, food retailers and supermarkets must take back waste appliances
