Textiles and related products must be labelled in the EU. The current legislation, Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011, lays down the mandatory rules for the use of textile fibre names. It is now to be comprehensively reformed so that national labelling requirements by member states can be dispensed with. In addition, new requirements for digital labelling are to be defined. The EU initiative is in the exploratory phase. The adoption of a draft by the EU Commission is planned by the end of 2023.
