As trade-e-bility reported a year ago, producers of individually sold batteries and batteries contained in a product must prove their compliance to Amazon by providing a registration number before 18 August 2025. From this date onwards, Amazon – as an online platform provider – will be prohibited from allowing sellers of unregistered batteries to sell their products, according to its own statements (note: e.g. according to the German draft of the Battery Law EU Adaptation Act). This deadline is now fast approaching. Amazon advises its affected sellers to proceed as follows:
- Step 1 – Register with the competent authority in Germany, Sweden and Poland or via a producer responsibility organisation (PRO) in the Netherlands.
- Step 2 – Submit your battery registration numbers via Account Health > Policy Compliance > Regulatory Compliance for Germany, Netherlands, Poland and Sweden. Your submitted battery registration number will be verified within five working days and the status will be displayed on the Account Status page.
- Step 3 – From August 2025, report your annual battery sales and pay the eco-contribution fees to the relevant EU authorities or PROs.
Are your batteries not yet registered in the countries listed above? take-e-way will be happy to answer any questions you may have and take care of battery registration for you. Simply contact us at +49/40/750687-0 or consulting@take-e-way.de
Please note:Please act quickly if necessary, as the relevant authorities may also require several weeks to process your request.
