As reported in our article of 7 September 2021, Amazon is currently contacting sellers who were identified by Amazon as manufacturers and who sell to Germany and/or France concerning the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations.
In this context, uncertainties regularly arise in relation to what Amazon refers to as “EPR numbers”.
In fact, these are the official registration numbers or membership numbers of the take-back system. At present, only a membership number is valid in France, but in Germany an official registration number is necessary as proof.
This will change in France from 2022. A UIN (Unique Identification Number) is to be assigned at the beginning of the year and made available to each registered manufacturer for each waste stream.
