New registration obligation for packaging in Spain

The Spanish packaging law obliges producers to register their packaging. Distributors from abroad must also register through an authorised representative if they sell packaged products in Spain.

With effect from 19 July 2021, a comprehensive reform of the Waste Act 646/2011 has come into force in Finland. WEEE Germany: Record players (turntables) are subject to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act

According to the gfu, sales of turntables were up by eight per cent in the first half of 2021, to just under 63,000 units. Record players belong to the appliance type “small electrical appliances up to max. 50cm” or “large electrical appliances with dimensions over 50cm”.

Portugal: Registration and Authorized Representative for Electronic devices, Batteries and Packaging

With effect from July 1st, 2021, the Portuguese environmental authority APA announced the early implementation of the official registration of an authorized representative for waste streams other than Electrical and Electronic devices. The product categories that benefit from this go beyond Batteries and Accumulators as well as Packaging. From January 1st, 2022, registration for such products is mandatory in this way.
