New registration obligation for packaging in Spain

The Spanish packaging law obliges producers to register their packaging. Distributors from abroad must also register through an authorised representative if they sell packaged products in Spain.

EPREL: Sell-off of devices without energy label

The federal retail association Bundesverband Technik des Einzelhandels e.V. (BVT) has issued a reminder that as of 2 December 2021, electrical appliances – without the new EU energy label – may no longer be sold. If the appliance is too old and the manufacturer cannot provide you with a new EU energy label on request, you should sell it off quickly, according to a BVT recommendation.

As we informed you in our news article of 24 August 2021, a comprehensive reform of the Waste Act 646/2011 came into force in Finland on 19 July 2021. Foreign online retailers will need registration not only for electrical appliances, but from now on also for batteries and packaging.

Italy: Guide to environmental labelling available

Legislative Decree No. 116/2020 imposed a strict labelling obligation on manufacturers and distributors of packaging in Italy. France: Release of the sorting information guidelines for packaging

On the 27th September, Citeo, the French packaging take-back scheme released their sorting guideline. This guideline explains the producers how to adjust the labelling of packaging based on the updated regulations. It contains all pictograms necessary to create individual sorting information based on your possible packaging composition.
