The federal retail association Bundesverband Technik des Einzelhandels e.V. (BVT) has issued a reminder that as of 2 December 2021, electrical appliances – without the new EU energy label – may no longer be sold. If the appliance is too old and the manufacturer cannot provide you with a new EU energy label on request, you should sell it off quickly, according to a BVT recommendation.

As a retailer selling more than £100,000 worth of electrical goods and running a retail store or other establishment (including showrooms) in the UK, you must offer your own take-back of electrical goods from private households on a one-to-one, like-for-like basis. The authorities are increasingly enforcing this from this year.
