In a separate statement, Sweden welcomes Spain’s intention to give a further boost to engaging in the circular economy but emphasises that the draft will make it more difficult to export goods to Spain as companies will need to adapt the packaging of their products to the new, unilateral requirements.

As is already the case for electrical appliances, batteries and packaging, extended producer responsibility (EPR) is also to be formulated for textiles.

According to the decree n°2021-835 from 29th June 2021, all French take-back systems have to develop a sorting information per waste stream, with the purpose to help the consumers sort their waste correctly. All items of clothing, household linen and footwear brought onto the French market are concerned.

The information for the consumer always consists of the Triman symbol together with the info-tri (sorting information), which have to be displayed together. It applies to household furniture, both to indoor and to outdoor furniture.

Together with its partners, take-e-way GmbH has collected 29,290 t of waste electrical and electronic equipment (previous year: 26,628 t) and handed over to certified primary treatment facilities on behalf of their customers for the purpose of preparation for reuse or for feedstock recycling.
