EU Packaging Regulation Update

Producers who have to fulfil obligations on minimum recyclate contents in their packaging are to be given preferential access to recycled material.

As Euwid reports, three committees of the European Parliament have issued statements with amendments to the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The lead Environment Committee has scheduled its vote for September. The EU Parliament’s Industry Committee (ITRE) voted to promote closed-loop packaging recycling. This means that producers who have to fulfil obligations on minimum recyclate contents in their packaging are to be given preferential access to recycled material obtained from packaging waste.
