Publishing industrial batteries recycling quotas for 2021

Comply with your information and notification obligations under the Batteries Act just as securely as those under the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. If you do not have a “Disposal” menu item on your website, you should at least fulfil your duty to provide disclosures in your publishing information, ideally below the indication of the WEEE number.

Packaging Act: Online retailers must prepare for increased controls

By 1 July 2022, all retailers who commercially place packaged goods on the market in Germany must register in the LUCID Packaging Register – regardless of the respective types of packaging. If they sell their packaged goods on electronic marketplaces, retailers will need to prepare for increased controls in the future.

Slovenia: New producer responsibility regulations

Producers are required to join together to form take-back systems. Moreover, the new legislation provides for an authorised representative for producers of each waste stream from abroad. This offers foreign producers of packaging and batteries the opportunity to register in Slovenia.

Packaging Act: Starting in June 2022, marketplaces will be able to check LUCID registration automatically

The marketplaces will be directly subject to this obligation as of 1 July 2022. They are required to check whether the online retailers or sellers who offer their packaged goods on their platform have implemented the registration requirements and system participation. If the traders violate the statutory provisions, the marketplaces may no longer allow them to distribute their goods.

UK: Plastic Packaging Tax comes into force on April 1

Manufacturers need to check if they are liable for the Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT). From the date manufacturers become liable for the tax, they have 30 days to register.

France: Extension of deadline for labelling of packaging

The general deadline for implementing the labeling, which concerns the packaging elements, remains 9th September 2022. However, the deadline for implementing the labelling on all packaging produced or imported before 9th September 2022 has been extended from 9th March 2023 to 15th June 2023 for producers serving one additonal waste stream (WEEE or batteries). For producers only serving the packaging waste stream the deadline will be 9th March 2023 regarding packaging produced or imported before 9th September 2022.
