Producers who have to fulfil obligations on minimum recyclate contents in their packaging are to be given preferential access to recycled material.

The Swedish packaging take-back system FTI will be incorporated into the Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) Näringslivets Producentansvar (NPA) as per 1st January 2024. By 1st November 2023, all producers must have joined an admitted PRO.

The registration for packaging manufacturers must already have taken place by 01.01.2024, because the quantities from the previous year must already be reported and collected or recycled when the packaging regulation comes into force in January 2025. The declaration of the planned quantity for 2024 must take place in Q1 2024.

It can already be seen at this stage that take-e-way will reach the self-imposed target of 4,000 collection points in the take-e-back system.

On 15 May 2023, the new Single-Use Plastics Fund Act (EWKFondsG) was published in the German Federal Law Gazette and has thus come into force step by step since 16 May 2023. Affected products include plastic carrier bags, balloons and tobacco products.
